We miss seeing all of you at the HUB Sports Center. We hope you are staying safe and staying healthy. We, at the HUB Sports Center, are on your team as we all fight this COVID-19 pandemic and do our part to help get life back to “normal”.
So, we did something kind of cool. We partnered with Zome Design and Adventures in Advertising to bring you a little piece of us and hopefully create unity within our community. We designed t-shirts (Zome) and water bottle stickers (AIA), which are available through this link: www.hubsportscenter.org/store. Purchases will not only help us raise some money to keep our bills and staff paid, but will also show that we are all on #ONETEAM to keep our community healthy and connected. At least, that’s what we’re hoping for.
#ONETEAM is the idea that while we all have our favorite teams and favorite sports, right now we are all on the same team. As #oneteam, we look out for our family and neighbors (our new teammates). We all have a role to play in social distancing and making the difficult decisions that come with staying home and staying healthy. Together we will seek out other ways to communicate and interact to support each other and to let each of us know we are not alone in this challenge. We Will Play Again with our friends and teammates, but until that time, we will be #ONETEAM with our community.
HUB Sports Center has been exploring new ways to interact and create community while the facility is temporarily shut down, and here are a few:
- The HUB Trick Shot Challenge (#HUBtrickshot) for everyone to try their best “trick shot” with a wadded up piece of paper and a garbage can. Make a video and tag us on social media. (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=233553338022554)
- HUB Online Scavenger Hunt. We created two online scavenger hunts for youth and families to participate. They complete different “missions” and post the results to our Facebook events. We had over 250 people participant and have many laughs and family fun while playing. https://www.facebook.com/events/1252409141815857 and https://www.facebook.com/events/236560800798986/
- HUB PE @ Home have been a series of different games and activities to do at home with your children and families. Our Program Director has posted these on our Facebook page 2-3 times per week.
We will continue to explore different ways to interact and provide positive events for our youth and community during this temporary shutdown of our facility.
It’s tricky not to feel alone right now, given that we’re all literally distanced from each other. But we at HUB Sports Center know that where there’s a will, there’s a way. We believe in our community and how we rally together to overcome. We are on your team! Please let us know if there is some way we can help you.
If you’re able, please consider helping us by ordering a t-shirt and/or sticker for yourself, for your coach/teammate, for your family, and/or for your dog. (We won’t judge.) The more you buy, the more we’ll feel the love. And, with all proceeds going directly to us and Zome Design, you’ll be helping two local businesses stay here for good.
Either way, we can’t wait to see you back in the HUB Sports Center once this has all cleared. Until then, stay safe and stay healthy.
All our best,
HUB Sports Center Team
