Special Olympics Unified Sports® is an inclusive sports program that combines an approximately equal number of Special Olympics athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) on teams for training and competition.
Unified Sports
Schools around the state are joining the movement by forming teams of students with and without disabilities in a variety of sports. Michelle Kwan, Special Olympics International Board member and professional figure skater, sums it up:
“It’s using sports as a way to bond, as a way to form a team and work together, in sports and in all of life.”
