State Middle School Basketball Championships
Mar 13 @ 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
State Middle School Basketball Championships @ HUB Sports Center

On the weekend of March 13-15, 2020, the top teams in the state will again meet in the Spokane Valley to battle it out for the 7th annual Washington Middle School Basketball Championship. After a long regular season playing against other teams in your area, the State Basketball Championship offers teams the shot to compete against fresh faces from all corners of the state.
This is not your ordinary league tournament, but rather the chance of a lifetime for all kids… “Remember the time we went to State!?!”

Championship Overview

♦  Two Championship divisions, School (based on high school boundary) and Club (non-school teams). Both divisions offer exciting competition for Boys and Girls grades 4-8.
♦  All teams play a minimum of 4 games. Some will play 5 games.
♦  Play begins as early as 4pm Friday and latest Sunday games tip off at 3:30pm.
♦  Entry fees are $400/team.  Early sign up & multiple team discounts are available.
♦  Awards for teams and for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in both divisions
♦  Game results immediately posted to the website after completion

There’s more! Here’s what you’ll get when we See You at STATE!

♦  Players and coaches will play middle school aged teams that they’ve never faced before. We have teams traveling from all over Washington: the Puget Sound area, Olympic Peninsula, Southwestern WA, Tri Cities, Yakima and Bellingham. Of course, there’ll be some hometown teams representing Spokane also!
♦  Partner hotels and resorts offering discounted rates.
♦  Competition will be held at clean, multi-court venues.  Friday and Saturday will feature exciting pool play with Sunday bringing the magic of the semi-finals and Championship games.
♦  Certified referees from the Spokane Basketball Officials Association and other associations throughout the state.
♦  Pre-determined scoreboard operators and scorebook keepers. No need for State coaches to pull visiting parent volunteers from the stands. So parents can sit back and relax (if watching your child compete in the Championship is relaxing?!)

All of the above while enjoying the Spokane Valley – one the top tourist destinations in Washington! “Play Hooky Monday” – stay Sunday night and enjoy a family day on Monday.

USAV has made changes to the Club and Open divisions, including the number of bids awarded in a division. For 2013, all qualifiers will be offering an American division and will offer a bid to the GJNC.  The USA division (formerly Club division) will offer 1 bid for divisions with 8-23 teams and 2 bids for divisions with 24 or more teams. The Open division will now require divisions of 24 or more for 3 bids, 16-23 teams for 2 bids, and 8-15 teams for 1 bid to the GJNC.  More information can be found in the Girls National Championship Manual.

In the USA & American divisions, the first two days are pool play, with the third being single-elimination bracket play. (Depending on the size of the field, some adaptations may be made to accommodate odd numbers.) In the Open divisions, challenge matches may follow pool play on the first two days, and some brackets may participate in pool play on the final day.
